About passport mutation
Your stay permit is electronic, but it is tied to the passport it was issued in. The moment you get a new passport, from renewal, damage or loss, immigration needs to link your existing KITAS or KITAP and your re entry permit to the new document.
Skip it and you can be stopped at the airport or blocked at your next extension, even though your permit is still valid. It is a quick filing, but it has to be done at the right office before you travel.
