FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I register a company in Indonesia without being in the country?
Much of the process can be handled remotely. Your first consultation with ILA can take place online or by phone, you upload your documents through ILA's secure platform, and ILA shares your incorporation document once the company is a legal entity. ILA can also assist with opening your bank account, either online or in Indonesia.
What is the difference between a PT PMA and a PT PMDN?
A PT PMA is the foreign investment company, used by foreign individuals or entities for business expansion, trading or property investment. A PT PMDN is a local company, used for business lines closed to foreign ownership or by investors using a domestic structure. ILA looks at your activity, capital and location to recommend the right one.
When can my company start operating after registration?
Once ILA shares your incorporation document, your company is a legal entity in Indonesia. When your tax card and NIB are ready, you can start operating, although some licences may still need verification depending on your activity. ILA then assists with opening your bank account.
Should I open a representative office instead of a company?
A representative office (KP3A, KPPA or BUJKA) lets a foreign business test the Indonesian market with a presence and staff before committing to a full company. If you are not yet ready to form a PT PMA, it can be a sensible first step. ILA can review your plans and confirm which structure fits.
Can ILA help with market entry, not just company registration?
Yes. Alongside registration, ILA offers market entry advisory drawing on the team's combined 20+ years of experience across Southeast Asia. This covers strategic planning with customised roadmaps, market research and competitor analysis, and hands-on guidance for entry and growth, in Bali, Jakarta, Lombok and beyond.
