An investor visa is granted for 1 to 2 years for people willing to invest and having a company in Indonesia. People having an investor visa will obtain a KITAS (stay permit) considered as a resident permit to live and stay in Indonesia. It is the perfect visa for people willing to come back and forth or live in Indonesia.

Investor KITAS E28A is issued for 2 years to foreigners who invest in a PT PMA company as a shareholder and have 10 billion shares value on the deed of the company.

Holders of the Investor KITAS are permitted to exit and re-enter the country without restriction for the duration of the visa’s validity. Furthermore, eligible family members of the Investor KITAS holder may also be sponsored to receive a Family KITAS in Indonesia.

Timeline to obtain an investor KITAS

Offshore application

If the applicant is located outside Indonesia the application takes 10 working days. It can be done fast as long as the investor has all the required documents and the company is set up. If the PMA needs to be set up another 10 additional working days is necessary. Once the visa is issued the applicant has 90 days to come to Indonesia to validate the visa and obtain the investor KITAS by passing the border through the autogate. The KITAS is sent directly to the email of the applicant by the immigration system.

Onshore application

If the applicant is located inside Indonesia, the investor needs to convert its current visa. The applicant needs to pass by a bridging visa valid for 30 days while the investor KITAS is in process. A visit to the immigration office is necessary to register the biometrics of the applicant. The timeline is around 20 working days.

Can you work with an investor KITAS?

An investor visa is issued to investors looking to supervise their investment and company. It is a visa for a non operational role or limited to supervision and direction of the company. A working permit and KITAS is recommended for an operational role.

What do I need to do after obtaining my KITAS?

After obtaining a KITAS the applicant needs to maintain its address with the immigration. The address on the KITAS has to match the address where the applicant lives. It is important to do an address mutation if the applicant changes its address during the validity of the KITAS.

To apply for the KITAS address mutation, the applicant needs also to provide its SKTT. The SKTT is the civil registration. This document is proving your residency and provides a civil number called NIK. The SKTT has to be updated each time the investor KITAS holder changes its address. This document is also necessary to purchase a car, motorbike or for insurance purposes.

Cancellation of the KITAS

A KITAS is not cancelled automatically. A KITAS is either cancelled or extended. The applicant needs to cancel its KITAS or extend it.

  • EPO: If the KITAS holder wishes to cancel before the expiry date the process is called EPO (exit permit only).
  • ERP: If the KITAS holder wishes to cancel the KITAS while being outside the country or after the expiry date, the process is called ERP (exit reentry permit).
