A remote worker KITAS is a stay permit granted to foreigners working remotely for a company. It allows the visa holder to stay in Indonesia for one year. The visa is a multiple-entry visa, so the applicant doesn’t need to apply for a new visa as long as the current one is valid.

Requirements to get a Remote Worker visa

From the applicant

Passport with a validity of at least 6 (six) months
Recent photograph
A personal bank statement with a minimum amount of USD 2,000 or equivalent for the last three months (including name, date of the period, and balance account) is required
Bank account that proves income in the form of salary or income worth at least USD 60,000 per year
Employment contract with a company established outside the Indonesian Territory

Process and timeline of obtaining a Remote Worker visa

After receiving all the document requirements, the application process takes around 5 days to 3 weeks, depending on your chosen process. Once the visa is issued, the applicant has 90 days to enter the country and activate its Investor KITAS.

Other things to know about your Visa

- KITAS holders who are planning to leave Indonesia, change their sponsor or change their visa need to apply for an EPO (exit permit only) while being in Indonesia or ERP (exit and re-entry permit) if the person is outside of Indonesia.

- Individual KITAS holder needs to declare their personal tax.
